When you think about the future of security, what comes to mind? Armed patrol robots? Cybersecurity threats? According to a recent article from Entrepreneur.com, drones could be a major part of the equation. Introduced in the early 2000s, drone technology was originally intended for military use. Now, it’s slowly making its way into the enterprise.
Because drones can cover more ground in less time than security guards, they seem like a fantastic future addition to any security program. As exciting as drone technology sounds, it won’t be able to replace the need for human guards. Whether they’re patrolling on foot or protecting from afar, humans will always be a critical aspect of property protection.
“…drones can’t replace their human counterparts or eliminate the need for manpower…”
We agree! In the event of an actual emergency, you’ll want a responsive team of humans on your side to intervene through talk-downs and physical backup. Drone technology alone won’t bring you total protection and peace of mind. We still have a long way to go before drones become a standard component of security programs, but it’s always exciting to look ahead towards the future.
